Born in American Samoa, Futi began his athletic career playing football at Tafuna High School, where he won back-to-back championships. He later transitioned to rugby after moving to the United States and developed through club rugby with Boise United and Seattle Rugby Club.
He built his rugby foundation through domestic competition and continued to grow his game in Seattle, earning recognition for his speed and finishing ability on the wing. His performances at the club level led to opportunities at the professional level.
He joined the Seattle Seawolves in 2021 and quickly became a consistent scoring threat. He has recorded over 25 tries in Major League Rugby and has been a key contributor in multiple playoff runs, including helping the team reach the Championship Final.
Futi has represented the USA Eagles at the international level and credits players such as Samu Manoa, AJ Alatimu, and Toni Pulu as influences. Outside of rugby, he enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, and coffee.
